Men's Basketball Athlete: 1977-1979
Mike Shunick came to DACC in the fall of 1977 from Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, IL and played for Coach Bill Small. His assists record of 266 in one season as well as 20 in one game still hold today after almost fifty years. He led the Jaguars to a third place finish in the state in 1977-78, before there were any divisions in junior college athletics. Mike was a member of the All-State team in 1978-79 and continued his basketball career at Austin Peay University in Clarksville, TN for his junior and senior seasons. Mike currently resides in Atlanta, GA.
