Baseball Goes 1-3 On the Weekend Against #16 Lincoln Land

SPRINGFIELD & DANVILLE, IL - It was a tough couple of days for DACC baseball as the team finished their regular season against #16 ranked Lincoln Land on Friday and Saturday. 

Danville (21-28) took the trip to Springfield on Friday for their first doubleheader. Lincoln Land (35-17) shut out the Jaguars as they won game one 8-0. The Loggers scored 1 run in the first, 4 in the third, 1 in each in the fourth and fifth, and 1 more in the eighth to take the win. Danville grabbed 6 hits that game, with Shea Zbrozek having 2 of them. 

The Jaguars were able to produce more offensively in game two of the day, but Lincoln Land was still able to pull away after another big third inning. Danville scored 2 runs to start things off in the first, but the Loggers responded quickly. The score was 8-2 Lincoln Land going into the fifth inning where DACC scored 1 more run, and the Loggers added 1 more in the sixth, taking the second win of the day 9-3. Kody Morton led the team with 2 RBIs and 1 hit. 

Lincoln Land visited Danville on Saturday for the final regular season doubleheader. The Loggers got the bats going early in game one with 4 runs being scored in the first and 3 in the third. They were able to hold the Jaguars to just 4 runs total; with 2 being scored in the fourth and the other 2 being scored in the seventh, making the final score 7-4. Nathan Edders had 2 RBIs and 1 hit for the Jaguars, while Nick Krueger and Noah Frailey each had 4 strikeouts. 

DACC started off strong in game two on the day after scoring 1 run in the first, 3 in the second, and 1 in the fifth before Lincoln Land scored 2 in the sixth. The score read 5-2 going into the top of the eighth where the Loggers only scored 1 more run, giving Danville the 5-3 victory. Carter Wambach had 1 RBI and 2 hits, and Kenseth Johns got the win on the mound with 5 strikeouts.

The team now sits with a 21-28 overall record and a 16-16 conference record. They earned the #5 seed in this year's Region 24 Tournament where they will play #7 Lewis & Clark at noon on Friday in Champaign, and then they will play #2 seed Parkland at 3 pm on Friday, also in Champaign.
