Jaguars Go 3-1 in Series Against the Loggers

SPRINGFIELD, IL & DANVILLE, IL - The Jaguars faced the Loggers of Lincoln Land in four different games over the weekend, and went 3-1 to stand with a 19-18 overall record.

(April 11th) Game 1 vs Lincoln Land
Danville (19-18) didn't start producing on offense till the seventh inning in game one against the Loggers (17-18) who had the 8-0 lead over the Jaguars. Lincoln Land scored 2 in the second, one in both the third and fourth, 4 in the fifth before Danville finally got on the board with a big 5-run seventh inning to bring it within 3. The Loggers added another run to their lead in the bottom of the seventh, but it was the Jaguars who finished strong. They scored 2 runs in the top of the eighth, then took the lead after scoring 3 runs in the ninth. They held off Lincoln Land in the bottom half to get the 10-9 victory in game one.

Drew Wichtowski hit a 3-run homerun, while Cameron Feuerborn was 3-5 at the plate with 2 RBIs. Kendall Gregg got the win on the mound with 7 strikeouts.

(April 11th) Game 2 vs Lincoln Land
Game two on Saturday was a lower scoring game with Danville getting on the board first with 2 runs in the top of the first. They held off the Loggers in the bottom of the first and second, but Lincoln Land scored 1 in the third. They then tied it up at 2 a piece in the bottom of the fifth, and both teams were scoreless in the sixth before Danville took back the lead in the top of the seventh after scoring a run. The Jaguars then held off Lincoln Land in the bottom of the seventh to get the 3-2 victory.

Drew Wichtowski earned another homerun in this game, and Beau Raikes had 5 strikeouts.

(April 12th) Game 1 vs Lincoln Land
The Loggers were in Danville on Sunday where the teams split the doubleheader. Lincoln Land got on the board first with 3 runs in the top of the first, and then the Jaguars took the lead in the bottom half after scoring 4 runs. The Loggers then scored 2 in the top of the third to make it 5-4 before the Jaguars took the lead again at 6-5 in the bottom of the fifth. Lincoln Land was then up 8-6 in the bottom of the eighth when Braxton Waller walked it off with a homerun to give Danville the 10-8 win.

Waller had 4 RBIs and Zach Russell had 3 RBIs. Kendrick Johnson had 4 strikeouts.

(April 12th) Game 2 vs Lincoln Land
The Jaguars struggled in game two as the Loggers scored in every inning and ended the game in five innings. Lincoln Land scored 5 in the first, Danville scored 4 in the bottom of the first. Lincoln Land added 5 more in the second, and Danville scored 3 in the bottom of the second, but that's all the Jaguars were held to. The Loggers extended their lead 12-7 in the third, then 18-7 after the fourth, then 21-7 after the fifth to get the win.

Zach Russell was 2-3 at the plate, while Drew Wichtowski had 3 RBIs.
