Baseball Falls to South Suburban on the Road

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL - Jaguar baseball had a hard time getting things going Tuesday against the Bulldogs as they fell to South Suburban 21-7 on the road.

Danville (19-19) faced South Suburban (25-14) in a non-conference matchup, and quickly found themselves in a hole after the first inning. The Bulldogs scored 5 runs in the first, and extended the lead 12-0 after the second. The Jaguars got on the board in the third after bringing in a run, but South Suburban continued to add on more runs. They scored 2 more in the bottom of the third, Danville scored 4 in the top of the fourth, then the Bulldogs brought in 7 in the bottom half. The Jaguars were only able to produce 2 more runs in the top of the sixth, and were held off the remainder of the game, losing 21-7.

Bryar Cosgrove and Drew Wichtowski each had 2 RBIs, while Pedro Rangel and Landon Sitze each had 2 strikeouts.

Danville will play in a conference series starting Friday, April 17th when they host Illinois Central College in a doubleheader starting at 12:00pm at the Danville Stadium. They will face the Cougars again in another doubleheader on Saturday, April 18th in East Peoria, Illinois, also starting at 12:00pm.
