Baseball Falls to Kankakee in Doubleheader

RANTOUL, IL - DACC baseball couldn't get anything going Thursday afternoon in a doubleheader against Kankakee Community College.

Danville (0-8) traveled to Rantoul on Thursday to face the Cavaliers of Kankakee (5-0). Game one remained scoreless through the first two innings till the Jaguars got on the board first, making it 1-0 before the Cavaliers scored a run of their own in the bottom half of the third. Kankakee would bring across two more runs in the fourth before Danville scored one more in the fifth, making it 3-2. Kankakee grabbed two more runs in the sixth and held on in the top of the seventh to get the 5-2 victory over Danville.

Braxton Waller went 1-2 at the plate with 2 RBIs, while Cooper Hannagan added a hit. Eric Fields threw nine strikeouts.

In game two against the Cavs, both teams got on the board in the first inning, tying the game at one a piece. Kankakee held the Jaguars to just one run though, as they went onto score four runs in the third, two in the sixth, and three in the seventh, giving them the 10-1 win on the day.

Braxton Waller was 1-1 with 1 RBI. Eric Rodriguez struckout four batters, while Drew Ogden struckout three and Zach Poore struckout one.

The Jaguars will play again on Wednesday, March 5th at 3 o'clock when they host Olney Central College in their home opener at Danville Stadium.
