Baseball Loses 2 in Region 24 Tournament to End Season

Team finishes 21-30 on the year

CHAMPAIGN, IL - It was an unfortunate turn of events for DACC baseball as the team fell short in their two games in the opening round of the Region 24 tournament this past weekend.

Danville (21-30) entered Region 24 play last Friday in Champaign and played their first game against Lewis & Clark College (29-30). The Trailblazers were able to produce offensively as they had a big third inning with seven players touching home plate. A pair of runs were scored in the first, and then the 7 in the third, 1 in the fourth, seventh, and eighth to help them secure the victory. Danville scored 3 runs in the third, 1 in the fifth and seventh, 4 in the eighth, and 2 in the ninth. Lewis & Clark held on and were able to get the 12-11 win. Drew Pinkston led the Jaguars with 4 RBIs and 2 hits, while Kenseth Johns had 3 strikeouts.

The Jaguars were going to have to battle their way back into the winner's bracket after their first loss, and the next match up was against Parkland College (40-13). The Cobras held Danville to only 6 hits as they scored 2 runs in the third and 2 runs in the fifth. Parkland scored their twelfth run in the bottom of the sixth, making the final score 12-4 and ending the game in seven innings. Ryan DeGroot had 3 RBIs and 3 hits for Danville, and Nick Krueger had 4 strikeouts.

Those losses ended the 2024 season for DACC baseball, where they finished with a 21-30 overall record and a 16-18 conference record.
