Baseball Sweeps Lewis & Clark

DANVILLE, ILLINOIS – Jaguar Baseball Team handed four losses to Lewis & Clark Trailblazers in a MWAC conference showdown. The Sweep helped the Jaguars improve their record to 24-14 heading into the final part of the season.
 
Game One: W 3-1 
 
Danville took the lead late in the game in a 3-1 victory over Lewis & Clark CC on Friday. The game was tied at one with the Jaguars batting in the bottom of the eighth when Jake Andriole tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
 
The pitching was strong on both sides. Danville pitchers struck out ten. 
 
Jake Stipp toed the rubber for Danville. Stipp lasted eight and a third innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out nine.
 
Andriole led the Jaguars with two hits in four at bats.
 
Game Two: W 5-1 

DACC jumped out to an early lead over Lewis & Clark CC and took home a 5-1 victory on Friday. The Jaguars scored on a sacrifice fly by Noah Laurent in the second inning and a single by Jake Andriole in the second inning.
 
Danville pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second Laurent's sac fly scored one run for DACC and Andriole singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
 
Cj Backer led things off on the hill for the Jaguars. The righty went seven innings, allowing one run on seven hits and striking out ten.
 
Andriole went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead DACC in hits. Danville didn't commit a single error in the field. Jonathan Latham had the most chances in the field with ten.
 
Game Three: W 3-1

Both teams were strong on the pitcher's mound Sunday, but Danville defeated Lewis & Clark CC 3-1. Danville pitchers allowed just four hits to Lewis & Clark CC.
 
An early lead helped propel the Jaguars to victory. DACC scored on a single by Kyle Bartman in the first inning, a single by Noah Laurent in the second inning, and a single by Jake Andriole in the second inning.
 
Danville pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second Laurent singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Andriole singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
 
Andriole led things off on the mound for the Jaguars. The lefthander allowed four hits and one run over six innings, striking out 11.
 
Jaden Miller went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead in hits. The Jaguars tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Dawson Johns led the way with two. Danville was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Jonathan Latham made the most plays with 13.
 
Game Four: W 7-6 in Walk-Off Fashion

Danville seized victory in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off single at the end of the game to topple Lewis & Clark CC. The game was tied at six with the Jaguars batting in the bottom of the tenth when Andy Bunton singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
 
The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game. Danville collected nine hits and Lewis & Clark CC had six.
 
DACC scored three runs in the third inning. Danville scored its runs on a home run by Luke Barnes.
 
Alex Rizor toed the rubber for DACC. The righty lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit and three runs while striking out one.
 
Danville smacked one home run on the day. Barnes put one out in the third inning.
 
The Jaguars tallied nine hits. Bunton and Chase Vinson all collected multiple hits for DACC. Vinson and Bunton each managed two hits to lead the Jaguars.
