Baseball Stays Hot, Win 3 of 4 over MWAC Foe Vincennes

DANVILLE, ILLINOIS – The Jaguars got off to another hot start in conference, improving their record to 7-1 in MWAC play and 11-2 overall after they played Vincennes over the weekend. 
 
Game one 
 
Jaguars snagged a late lead and defeated Vincennes 9-7 on Saturday.  Danville trailed 7-5 in the top of the sixth inning when Chase Vinson doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring three runs.
 
Vincennes scored four runs in the second inning, but Danville still managed to pull out the victory. V
 
The Jaguars fired up the offense in the first inning, when Jonathan Latham singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
 
Danville pulled away for good with five runs in the sixth inning. In the sixth Jaden Miller doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Andy Bunton singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
 
Riley Hershberger took the win for the Jaguars. The righthander went five and a third innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out five.  Luke Olson threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Olson recorded the last four outs to earn the save for Jaguars.
 
Ryan Adams started the game for Danville. The southpaw surrendered five runs on five hits over two and a third innings, striking out two
 
Bunton went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Jaguars in hits. 
 
Game Two
 
It came down to the last play, but Danville was on the wrong end of a 5-4 defeat to Vincennes on Sunday. Vincennes trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning when they singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
 
The Jaguars lost despite out-hitting Vincennes eight to seven.
 
In the first inning, the Jaguars got their offense started.  Jake Andriole homered on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
 
Luke Olson took the loss for Danville. Olson lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit and two runs while walking one.
 
Cj Backer started the game for Danville. The righty went four innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out seven
 
The Jaguars tallied one home run on the day. Andriole had a four bagger in the first inning.
 
Danville racked up eight hits in the game. Andy BuntonKyle Bartman, and Andriole each managed multiple hits for the Jaguars.  Bunton went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Danville in hits.  
 
The Jaguars was sure handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Dustin Dupont had the most chances in the field with 11.
 
Game Three 
 
Jake Andriole threw a shutout to lead the Jaguars past Vincennes 8-0 on Monday.
 
In the second inning, the Jaguars got their offense started.  Chase Vinson hit a solo homer.
 
Danville put up three runs in the fifth inning.  Danville's offense in the inning came from a single by Mason Dean and an error on a ball put in play by Dustin Dupont.
 
Andriole earned the win for the Jaguars. The lefthander lasted seven innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out six and walking one.
 
Danville hit one home run on the day. Vinson had a four bagger in the second inning.
The Jaguars collected 11 hits on the day. Vinson and Andy Bunton each had multiple hits for Danville. 
 
Bunton and Vinson each collected three hits to lead Danville. The Jaguars was perfect and didn't commit a single error. Dupont made the most plays with five.
 
Game Four 
 
Danville blew out Vincennes 12-4 on Monday.
 
The Jaguars took the lead for good with three runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Andy Bunton doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, Ethan Hall singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, and Mason Dean drew a walk, scoring one run.
 
Danville scored four runs in the sixth inning. Jonathan Latham had an RBI single in the inning to lead the run scoring.
 
Alex Rizor led things off on the mound for the Jaguars. The righthander went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits, striking out seven and walking one.
 
Danville racked up 14 hits on the day. Hall, Bunton, and Dustin Dupont all had multiple hits for the Jaguars.  
 
Bunton and Hall all had three hits to lead Danville.  The Jaguars didn't commit a single error in the field. Latham had 11 chances in the field, the most on the team.
 
Danville will now prepare to face off with MWAC Rival-#15 Parkland this upcoming weekend in an Illinois 74 showdown.
