Softball Stays Hot against Lewis and Clark to Finish Conference Season

Smith's homers in W, Ogg and Hartman dominate in the Circle

GODFREY, IL - The Lady Jaguars continue to have success late in the season with finishing their conference slate with a pair of W's against Lewis and Clark.  The last time the two clubs met, Lewis and Clark got the best of the Jaguars winning 8-5 and 5-1. However, the outcome was much different this time around as the Jaguars (29-14) took both games of the double header by scores of 6-5 and 9-3.

Game One - Danville Area Community College 6 // Lewis and Clark 5

The Lady Jaguars won 6-5 after taking a late lead in the game in the 7th inning.  With the Jaguars winning 3-2 in the 6th inning, Lewis and Clark had a clutch hit from Cooper who doubled in Palen to tie the game at 3.  Heading into the top of the 7th inning with the game tied, the Jaguars lead off the inning with a fly out from Tonya Faulkner who then brought up Kelly Smith.

On a 1-1 count, Smith delivered a stunning home run to left field right into the Trailblazer batting cages to help start a three run 7th.  The Jaguars would take a 6-3 lead going into the bottom of the 7th inning, and would manage to take the win by a 6-5 margin.

Amanda Hartman led the Jaguars in the circle, going six strong innings, allowing five runs on seven hits striking out three and walking zero. Hannah Ogg came in relief and recorded the final three outs of the contest earning her first save on the year.

The Jaguars compiled 10 hits in the game with Kelly Smith, Amanda Hartman and Danielle Brewer adding multiple hits in the contest.

Game Two - Danville Area Community College 9 // Lewis and Clark 3

The Lady Jaguars knocked in six runs in the first inning on its way to a 9-3 victory over the Trailblazers. Danville put pressure on early with singles by Kelly Smith, Tonya Faulkner, Brianna Tatar and a timely double by Hannah Miener.  The Lady Jaguars got things started in the first inning when Kelly Smith continued her dominance by hitting a single on a 1-2 count scoring 2 runs.

Hannah Ogg earned the victory in the circle, allowing 4 hits and three runs over seven innings. She struck out two while walking one.  Kamryn Latimore lead the Jaguar offense with multiple hits in the contest.

The Lady Jaguars end the regular season 29-14 and look to continue their play during the Region 24 tournament which starts this Thursday May 9th, 2019.  The Lady Jaguars will take on Parkland in game one of the 2019 Region 24 tournament beginning with first pitch at 3pm.
