Rylee Richey Earns All-American Honors

Sophomore named to NJCAA 2nd Team

DANVILLE, IL - Danville Area Community College will add another name to its long list of NJCAA All-Americans as sophomore pitcher Rylee Richey was named to the NJCAA Division II Softball All-American 2nd team yesterday. NJCAA All-American honors are given to the nation's 39 best players, and is then divided into three teams.

Richey started her DACC career in the 2022-23 season and was an integral piece to the reappearance of DACC softball at the NJCAA National Tournament last year. She appeared in 25 games in the 2023 season, earning herself a 12-5 record in the circle. She pitched 104.1 innings, having a 2.88 ERA and striking out 131 total batters. She had four different games last year where she had 9 strikeouts, including one at the National tournament last year against #8 seed Kirkwood.

This season, Richey was a force to be reckon with as she put up big numbers both offensively and defensively. On the mound, she earned 22 wins and only had 4 losses. In total, she appeared in 36 games, pitching 180.1 innings with a 2.52 ERA and a massive 226 strikeouts. In the nation, she came in 5th with total strikeouts, 5th in saves, 7th in wins, 12th in appearances, and 26th in doubles. She had the second highest batting average on the team with a .390 and a .678 slugging percentage. In her 146 at bats, she had 20 doubles, 6 homeruns, and 52 RBIs. In the District P Championship bracket, Danville played their first game against St. Louis, and Richey pitched a season high 15 strikeouts, helping the Jaguars to a 2-1 victory. 

Rylee's impact on DACC softball on the last two years has been nothing short of impressive. With Richey's All-American status, she becomes the 6th softball Jaguar to be coached under Matt and Kelley Cervantes, and Coach Bott in the last 7 years.
