Sydni Crain Advances to NJCAA Division II Women's Golf Nationals

SHAWNEE, OK - For the first time since the 2021 season, Danville Area Community College will be sending a women's golfer to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.

Sydni Crain, a freshman from Covington, Indiana, advanced to Nationals after finishing in sixth place at the Central District Championship in Shawnee, Oklahoma on Tuesday. The women's golf team traveled to Shawnee to all play in the tournament, and it's Crain who will be representing the program in Tuscaloosa, Alabama next month.

Crain was able to score an 81 in the first round on Monday, and an 89 in the second round on Tuesday, earning a total score of 170. Head Coach Randy White is beyond thrilled to have one of his players compete on the Nationals stage.

"We are doing the right thing as a program to get better and achieve goals," White said when asked what it means to send someone back for the first time since 2021. "Sydni is harder on herself than I am as a coach. She works extremely hard on her game and tries to achieve perfection, which any golfer knows is impossible, but in her mind she thinks she can."

Coach White is looking to just enjoy the process as this season comes to an end.

"My words to Sydni as she prepares for Nationals is to do the three things that we always check in her swing, but relax and have fun with this opportunity. I'm looking forward to watching Sydni compete and represent DACC."
