Jaguar Softball on 14 Game Win Streak

DANVILLE, IL - DACC softball is on a roll recently, winning their last 14 in a row, and currently sitting with a 37-9 overall record. All of their games last week were played at home, and all of them were wins for Danville, including 4 conference victories over Lincoln Land and Parkland.

(April 11th) Game 1 vs Lincoln Land
The Jaguars (37-9) hosted the Loggers (13-14-1) on Saturday in a doubleheader where Danville bounced back after going down 2-0 at the end of the first. The Jaguars brought a run across in the bottom of the second to make it 2-1, then took the lead at 4-2 after the bottom of the fourth. The Loggers tied it at 4 in the top of the fifth, but the Jaguars took the lead back again at 5-4 after scoring a run in the bottom of the fifth. Danville held off Lincoln Land in the sixth and seventh to get the 5-4 win.

Ava Olson was 1-3 at the plate with 2 RBIs.

(April 11th) Game 2 vs Lincoln Land
Danville was able to hold the Loggers to just 4 hits in game two as it was a low scoring game for both teams. It was scoreless through 4 innings before the Jaguars got on the board with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Lincoln Land answered with a run in the top of the sixth, but Danville responded by walking it off in the bottom of the seventh with a run to get the 2-1 win. 

Ava Olson was 2-3 at the plate with 2 RBIs, while Mackenzie Fasig got the win on the mound with 3 strikeouts.

(April 12th) Game 1 vs Parkland
It was the second meeting for conference foes Danville and Parkland College (25-16) who entered this doubleheader ranked 16th according to the week 7 NJCAA poll. The Cobras got on the board first in game one, scoring 2 runs in both the top of the first and second, and 1 in the third to make it 5-0. Danville brought in a run in the fourth, and tied it at 5 after scoring 4 in the fifth. Parkland took back the lead at 6-5 after the top of the sixth, but Danville walked it off in the bottom of the seventh with 2 runs, taking the game one win 7-6.

Ka'Leah Bellik was 3-4 at the plate with 2 RBIs, while Tristan Ring and Ella Myers also had 2 RBIs. Paige Froess threw 7 strikeouts.

(April 12th) Game 2 vs Parkland
It was a high scoring game in game two, with both teams combining for 18 runs. The Cobras scored 4 in the top of the second, then Danville brought in 2 in the bottom half. The Jaguars made it 3-4 after the fourth, then took the lead at 6-4 after scoring 3 in the fifth. Parkland brought in a run in the top of the sixth, but Danville answered with 4 in the bottom of the sixth. The Jaguars then held the Cobras to just 3 runs in the top of the seventh to take the 10-8 win.

Ava Olson, Mia Herbert, Chloe Hunt, and Mekaya Cihla each had 2 RBIs, and Mackenzie Fasig had 5 strikeouts.

Danville will play again on Wednesday, April 15th when they host Illinois Central College in a doubleheader starting at 3pm.
