Baseball Goes 2-2 Against Lincoln Land

DANVILLE, IL - Jaguar baseball had their final conference series matchup this past weekend as they hosted Lincoln Land on Saturday, and traveled to Springfield on Sunday.

Game 1 (Friday): Danville 5, Lincoln Land 2
Danville (15-27) played their first doubleheader against the Loggers (28-16) on Friday at the stadium, and were down 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth when they scored four runs to go up 5-2. They held Lincoln Land scoreless through the remaining four innings and earned the 5-2 victory in game one.

Eric Fields was successful on the mound and got the win with seven strikeouts. Ethan Durbin went 3-4 at the plate with two RBIs, while Alex Fernandez went 1-3 at the plate, also with two RBIs.

Game 2 (Friday): Lincoln Land 5, Danville 2
In the second game on Friday, the Loggers took a 1-0 lead after the fifth before the Jaguars tied it up in the bottom of the seventh. Lincoln Land grabbed the lead again in the top of the ninth, bringing across another run. Danville responded though, and tied it up at two a piece to send the game into extra innings. Lincoln Land would eventually score three runs in the top of the eleventh, and Danville wouldn't be able to bounce back, falling short in game two, 5-2.

Isaac Murray and Adam Price each had an RBI, while Eric Rodrigues had four strikeouts.

Game 1 (Saturday): Danville 11, Lincoln Land 9
The Loggers were ahead 2-0 heading into the third when Danville scored three runs to get the 3-2 lead. The Jaguars went on to score two more runs in the fourth before Lincoln Land tied it up at five in the bottom half. Danville scored three runs in the sixth, then Lincoln Land scored four in the bottom of the sixth to get the 9-8 lead. The Jaguars brought in three runs in the top of the seventh, and held the Loggers off to get the 11-9 win.

Adam Price went 2-3 at the plate with three RBIs, while Alex Fernandez went 3-4 at the plate with two RBIs.

Game 2 (Saturday): Lincoln Land 14, Danville 11
The Loggers combined for a total of eleven hits in their win in game two on Saturday. They were up 12-4 over Danville before the Jaguars brought in four runs in the top of the sixth to make it 12-8. Lincoln Land added on another two runs in the eighth, and the Jaguars had the top of the ninth to try and come back, but their three runs scored weren't enough as they fell short 14-11.

Braxton Waller went 2-4 at the plate with four RBIs, while Lawson Leblanc had four strikeouts.

Up next... 
Danville will play in their final regular season series this weekend as they host Vincennes University on Friday at 1 and 3 pm, and then travel to Vincennes on Saturday to play at 1 and 3.
