Baseball Loses to Heartland on the Weekend

Jaguars go 1-3 against the Hawks

DANVILLE, IL - Jaguar baseball struggled against the Heartland Hawks (29-11) over this past weekend as the team went 1-3 over two days.

Danville (18-23) hosted the Hawks for a doubleheader on Saturday where they lost both games 11-4 and 7-6. 

They then visited the Hawks on their home turf on Sunday where they split the doubleheader, winning game one 12-4 and losing game two 18-2. It was a close contest in game one as the Hawks had a 4-2 lead going into the seventh, but the Jaguars scored 2 more runs in the seventh and 8 more in the eighth, earning them the win. Ryan DeGroot had 3 RBIs and 2 hits, while Drew Pinkston had 5 hits. Nick Krueger and Brennan Rawlins each had 2 strikeouts.

In game two, Heartland jumped out quick in the first inning as they scored 10 runs alone. They scored 2 more in both the second and third innings, and 4 more in the fourth, giving them the 18-2 victory. Danville's Adam Evans led the team offensively with 2 hits. 

The Jaguars will travel to Godfrey, Illinois on Friday the 26th to face Lewis & Clark at 3 and 5:30 pm. They'll be there again on Saturday at 1:30 and 3:30 as well.
