Men's Basketball Comes Up Short to John Wood

Lose by 2 in Saturday's Matchup

DANVILLE, IL - The Jaguars jumped out quick in the first half against the Blazers of John Wood on Saturday at home for Sophomore Day.

It was back and forth to start the game for a short period of time till Danville was able to pull away by a good margin. Terrence Ringo, who had a double double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, scored the first two baskets of the game, and the Blazers responded, but it was the Jaguars who kept attacking on offense. They knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers from Payton Weemer and Jaylen Simmons, and they took a 7 point lead from another made 3-pointer from Ryan Caddell. Danville had a lead 35-23 over John Wood entering halftime.

Danville jumped out quick in the second half with a layup from Terrence Ringo, a quick jumper from Donovan Parker, and another layup from Jameer Ajibade, giving the Jaguars an 18 point lead 41-23. John Wood cut the lead to only 7 when they hit a 3-pointer, but Ryan Caddell extended it back to 10 with a 3-pointer of his own. The Blazers hit another 3 which cut the lead to only 3 points. They knocked down another with a little over 3 minutes remaining, making the score 52-51 Danville. Terrence Ringo laid another one in making it 57-53, but the Blazers added a few more and tied it at 57 with 41 seconds left. A made layup from Jordan Shelton won the game for John Wood with the final score 59-57.

The Jaguars are now 16-10 overall with a 6-4 conference record. They will play again on Wednesday, February 28th when they host Spoon River at 7:30 following the women's game at 5:30.
