Jaguars Lose to Lincoln Land in Final Regular Season Showdown

Loggers beat Jaguars 70-53

SPRINGFIELD, IL - Danville was unable to climb back against the Loggers on Saturday in their final regular season game.

Lincoln Land took the lead to start the game after they knocked down a jump shot, but the Jaguars responded with a free throw, layup, and jumper from sophomore Terrence Ringo to take a 5-2 lead. The Loggers acted quickly as they took an 8 point lead with just over 10 minutes to go in the first half. Terrence Ringo cut the lead to 5 after another layup before Lincoln Land tacked on 2 more themselves. Ryan Caddell and Martez Rhodes hit 3-pointers, and made the score 24-28 Lincoln Land, before Danville called a timeout. The Jaguars didn't allow the Loggers to score anymore to close out the first half.

After some made shots from Lincoln Land to start the second half, Danville answered with some of their own including a made jumper from Donovan Parker and a 3 from Ryan Caddell, making the score 33-35. The Loggers pulled away though as they stretched the lead to 14 with under 10 minutes to go. Danville wasn't able to climb back as Lincoln Land continued to hit key shots, securing the win over the Jaguars with a final score of 70-53.

That was the last regular season game for the Jaguars who now sit with a 17-11 overall record, and a 7-5 conference record. They enter postseason play and will prepare for the Region 24 Tournament.
