Jaguars Sweep #19 Spoon River in MWAC Opener

DANVILLE, ILLINOIS – The Jaguar Baseball team hosted MWAC foe Spoon River in the series finale on Monday.  The Snappers came into the contest ranked #19 per NJCAA, but the Jaguar Baseball team proved to the nation they deserve to be recognized.

Danville swept the series over #19 Spoon River, winning both games on Monday; 7-4 // 10-2 respectively.

Game One

Danville wins contest against Spoon River on Monday, 7-4.

The Jaguars opened up an early lead in the first inning when Luke Barnes doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Danville took the lead for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Chase Vinson doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs, Barnes tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, and Kyle Bartman's sac fly scored one run for Danville.

Jake Andriole was credited with the victory for the Jaguars.  Andriole surrendered four runs on five hits over five innings, striking out seven.  Luke Olson threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Olson recorded the last six outs to earn the save for the Jaguars.

Danville scattered six hits in the game. Vinson and Barnes all had multiple hits for the Jaguars. Barnes and Vinson each collected two hits to lead Danville.

Game Two

The Jaguars easily dispatched Spoon River 10-2 on Sunday

Danville got on the board in the first inning when Chase Vinson doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.

Alex Rizor got the win for the Jaguars. Rizor went five and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out two.  Riley Hershberger threw one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The Jaguars tallied eight hits on the day.  Noah Laurent and Kyle Bartman all collected multiple hits for Danville. Bartman and Laurent each collected three hits to lead Danville.

The Jaguars stole seven bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Laurent led the way with two.
