Baseball Wins Two Against Spoon River

Adams and Backer Both Go Distance in Wins

CANTON, ILLINOIS – The Jaguar Baseball Team opened up MWAC and Region 24 play today against Spoon River.  The Jaguars swept the Snappers 10-0 // 13-1 in both games respectively. Danville improved to 5-1 on the year.

Game One // 13-1

Seven runs in the second inning led the Jaguars past Spoon River 13-1 in Game one.

Jonathan Latham, Luke Barnes, Kyle Bartman, Dawson Johns, and Jaden Miller each drove in runs during the inning.

The Jaguars got on the board in the first inning when Jake Andriole singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Danville tallied seven runs in the second inning.  Latham, Barnes, Bartman, Johns, and Miller all drove in runs in the frame.

Ryan Adams was credited with the victory for Danville.  Adams allowed two hits and zero runs over two innings, walking zero.

The Jaguars racked up 12 hits in the game. Noah Laurent, Andy Bunton, and Bartman each collected multiple hits for the Jaguars.

Game Two // 10-0

Cj Backer threw a shutout to lead Danville past Spoon River 10-0 on Saturday.  The Jaguars got on the board in the first inning.   Chase Vinson drove in two on his triple.

Danville put up three runs in the fifth inning. The rally was led by Noah Laurent and a double by Andy Bunton.

Backer was the winning pitcher for the Jaguars.  Backer went five innings, allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out eight.

Danville launched one home run on the day. Jonathan Latham went yard in the fourth inning.

The Jaguars tallied 11 hits.  Luke Barnes, Bunton, and Latham each managed multiple hits for Danville.
