Late Inning Heroics Aid Jaguars Past ICC

PEORIA, ILLINOIS - Heading into the fourth frame of the game, the score was 0-0. The Jaguars (12-13 Overall, 4-5 MWAC) gave up what thought to be a crucial early lead to the Cougars. The Cougars leading 3-0 sprung the Jaguars into action and within the next several frame the Jaguars managed to tie the score. Hunter Phelps delivered a three run homerun in the top of the 6th inning, giving hope to the Jaguar club. Heading into the bottom of the 6th, the Cougar bats came alive once again and the Jaguars spotted the Cougars a four run half inning.

Heading into the 7th inning, the Jaguars were chasing four runs in the frame, the Jaguar's came back to score 11 answered runs to complete the first game victory by a final score of 14-7. In what was such a close game, the Jaguars eventually became the victors as late inning heroics prevailed them over the Cougars.

In game 2 of the double header, the result was the same as the Jaguars were victorious; however, the score was by a larger margin. The Jaguars won the contest 11-2 as Danville was able to score five in the first, three in the second, two in the third and a final run in the fourth. Timely hitting was a factor along with clutch pitching performance by Justin Wilson. Wilson went 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out five. Danville native, Noah Nelson racked up multiple hits for the Jaguars along with Evan Allen during the contest.
