Lady Jaguars Sweep St. Louis Community College in Home Opener

DANVILLE, ILLINOIS - The Lady Jaguars open the Home Schedule with a tough slate as the Jaguars opened up with The Archers of St. Louis Community College. The Lady Jaguars prevailed in the first game winning in big fashion 9-2. However, the second game was much closer. The Lady Jaguars ended up being down in the bottom of the 7th, 4-2 and with Walk Off Fashion, the Lady Jaguars overcame the 2 run deficit and won the contest 5-4 before going into extra innings.

Game One

The Lady Jaguars cruised to an easy victory over St. Louis Community College 9-2 on Tuesday. St. Louis Community College got things moving in the first inning. Sidney Litviak grounded out, scoring one run. In the bottom of the second inning, Danville tied things up at one. Lauren Proehl hits sac fly scoring one run for the Jaguars. The Lady Jaguars pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third an error scored one run for Danville Area Community College Jaguars Varsity and Kelly Smith homered on a 1-0 count, scoring three runs. Hannah Ogg got the win for The Lady Jaguars. She surrendered two runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out six. Sarah Shepard took the loss for St. Louis Community College . She went three and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on four hits and striking out one. The Lady Jaguars launched two home runs on the day. Tonya Faulkner went yard in the fifth inning. Smith had a dinger in the third inning. Danville tallied eight hits in the game. Taylor Gunn and Hannah Miener all had multiple hits for DACC. Miener and Gunn each collected two hits to lead Danville.

Gifford's Walk-Off Gives The Lady Jaguars Victory Over St. Louis Community College

It came down to the wire on Tuesday, with the Lady Jaguars taking victory on a dramatic walk-off error in the late innings that sealed their victory over St. Louis Community College . The game was tied at four with DACC batting in the bottom of the seventh when an Hailee Gifford scored one run for The Lady Jaguars. St. Louis Community College got on the board in the second inning. Jennifer Luebbert singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs. Amanda Hartman led the Lady Jaguars to victory in the pitcher's circle. She went seven innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and striking out 11. Hannah Marquardt took the loss for St. Louis Community College . She surrendered two runs on four hits over three and a third innings, striking out one and walking one. Kelly Smith led Danville with two hits in three at bats.
