Lady Jaguars Open Season with Breast Cancer Awareness Game

Coach Harris Passionate about Her Squad and the Upcoming Season

DANVILLE, ILLINOIS - The Lady Jaguar Basketball team got off to a hot start last year, winning their first contest of the season.  However, with limited numbers and some of her squad out due to injuries, it was tough to keep the ball rolling in the right direction.  The Lady Jaguars finished the 2018-2019 season 3-22 and played the majority of their games with only 4 players.

Coach Harris, "Last season was a grind, we had limited players and zero depth. It was a trying year, not in the fact it was my first full season as a head coach but because we fought so hard to keep the only five players we had in the game, but don't discredit them, that group worked extremely hard."

Despite last seasons struggles, Coach Harris is loving the new atmosphere.  "We've brought in talented players and have much more depth going into the season. It helps our strategy/game plan and how we want to attack the season"

The Lady Jags open up the regular season with Kaskaskia College who had an overall record 5-23 during the 2018-2019 campaign.

What can we expect to see out of the Lady Jaguars?

Coach Harris states "You can expect to see a hungry group.  One that stems from the sophomore class and how they are molding the younger class to breed a winning culture.  Our sophomore class struggled going through last season obviously, but with depth and numbers along with a hard working mentality, I believe this team has the grit to grind out a winning season"

Adversity seemed to be the word thrown around last season frequently; however, Coach Harris believes adversity is what got her team to believe in themselves along with her returning class to help stimulate a winning atmosphere.

Returning for the Lady Jaguars are Annabella and Maria Falanga who hail all the way from Italy along with Aria Johnson and Anaiya Robinson.  "The Italians are going to have a big year, they worked hard all summer and are learning more and more each day.  They are great kids who work hard in the classroom and because of their work ethic, I know they are going to break out"

You can catch the Lady Jaguars in action this Saturday November 2nd, beginning at 1:00 PM.  The contest is live streamed and can be found on the basketball schedule page.  This contest is being dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness and Finding the Cure.
