Hi we are the faces of the 2018-19 women's basketball team at Danville Area Community College. All of us are super excited for the season. We come across as a small team, but each one of us brings a lot to the court. Coming into the season none of us really knew how the season was going to be. Most of us are freshman, so it is our first time playing college ball and for the sophomores, we have a little bit more experience. This year we have a new coach for the basketball program, so not only were the freshman new to the school, coach, and program, so were us sophomores.

All of us knew preseason was going to be tough, but not as hard as it ended up being. We expected we would have to run a lot of sprints, yet we didn't know we were going to do defensive cardio workouts, hills, track practices, and only touch a ball half of the practices. The only way we made it through pre season was by being there for eachother. When someone was tired or in pain, all of us needed to be positive and help each other push through adversity. From the beginning to end of preseason, out mental toughness improved drastically. All of us are getting to know eachother better as the days go by, creating a tighter team bond.

We greatly appreciate having the opportunity to pursue college basketball without having to worry about paying for school. Coming to DACC will make us not only better basketball players and students, but better women in general. Our teammates, teachers, coaches, and families are all helping guide us to be the best we can be and we are more than thankful for that.

This past saturday, October 6th was our first jamboree at ICC. Considering we've only been practicing with 5-6 players we weren't able to scrimmage much nor go over plays game speed with live defense so we were a little nervous when it came to playing in a jamboree. Overall, we believed for this being our first time playing with one another we did pretty good finishing the day with a record of 2-1. From this past weekend at the ICC jamboree, we learned alot about how each of us play whether it was noticing one's strength or weaknesses. There are many things we did well, yet there are more things we need to improve on.
