Jaguars Win Big in MWAC/Region 24 Opener

Ahmoni Weston and Drew Reifsteck Lead Jaguars in Win

DANVILLE, ILLINOIS – The Men's Basketball team opened up MWAC/Region 24 play tonight with Illinois Central College and the Jaguars made a statement and won the game by a final score of 78-41.  
 
Coach Gouard stated earlier in the year, "We had some tough games very early in our season, normally we are able to play more games before we start conference, but tonight's win showed how much our guys have improved and bounced back from those losses." 
 
The Jaguars hosted #1 South Suburban earlier in the year and lost by two in overtime, along with a DACC showdown with former DACC Men's Basketball coach Mike Carpenter at Wabash Valley.  
 
Danville started the season 0-3, but tonight's win finally puts them in the win column and the Jaguars demonstrated their true talents on the court.  
 
Leading the scoring for Danville was Freshman Ahmoni Weston who scored 16.  Bismarck native Drew Reifsteck tallied the most minutes with 30 and added 12 points in the contest.  Freshman Lewis Richards chipped in with 9 points, and Daylen Williams added 8 respectively.  
 
Coach Gouard, "We needed this win tonight, our guys have been practicing hard and it is nice to see them reap the benefits of their hard work.  Tonight's win was an all-around team effort, we played smart basketball on both ends of the court." 
 
The Jaguars will now begin to prepare for their rival Parkland on February 18th.  The game will be held in Champaign with tip off beginning 7:30. Parkland currently sits at 4-3 on the year, averaging 77.7 points per game.  The Jaguars improve to 1-3 on the year and are averaging 67 points per game.
