Clayton Hicks

Clayton Hicks begins his fourth season as the head coach of the Jaguars after serving as an assistant coach at DACC for the previous six years.  During his ten years on the baseball staff, Coach Hicks has helped move 70 former Jaguars on to four-year universities at all levels of competition.

Hicks was a workhorse as a pitcher here at Danville Area Community College.  He led the team during his two years in both innings pitched (164.1) and strikeouts (157).  Those two numbers also rank him second all-time in those categories in the history of the program as well as ranking third in wins.  He was a Mid-West Athletic Conference all-conference performer in 2010.  He also pitched for the Terre Haute Rex of the Prospect League in the summer of 2010 and was selected to the All-Star team.

Hicks continued his playing career after DACC at Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois.  He competed for head coach Josh Rabe, a former Major League player, and was yet again the workhorse for the Hawks.  Hicks led the staff in innings pitched during his career at Quincy and was chosen as a Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) selection in 2013.  He finished his college career with staggering statistical numbers from a pitching perspective:

360.1 Innings Pitched / 302 Strikeouts / 3.57 Earned Run Average.

Hicks graduated from Qunicy University with a degree in Sport Management.  After graduation from Quincy, Clayton served as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at DACC under Tim Bunton, who started the program in 1995.  Clayton also managed in the Prospect League during the 2018 and 2019 summers in Hannibal, Missouri (Hannibal Hoots).

Clayton is a graduate of Whiteland High School in Whiteland, Indiana and led the state of Indiana in strikeouts during his senior season.  He was selected to the Indiana All-Star game in 2009.  He currently resides in Bismarck, IL with his wife Allison and their two children, Boone and Peyton.
