PERRYSBURG, OH - The Danville Area Community College Jaguar volleyball team wrapped up a busy weekend at the Sonny Lewis Invitational in Perrysburg, Ohio, finishing the tournament with a 2-2 record after four matches Friday and Saturday.
(August 28th) DACC vs Oakland Community College
DACC opened the invitational Friday with a thrilling five-set victory over Oakland Community College, winning 3-2 by scores of 26-24, 22-25, 17-25, 25-19 and 15-13.
The Jaguars battled through a back-and-forth match, overcoming a 2-1 deficit by taking the fourth set before edging Oakland in the decisive fifth set. Brenna Graddy led the DACC attack with 14 kills and added 14 digs, while Aleeya Rudy contributed 10 kills and seven block assists.
Tinley Parkerson finished with 16 assists, one ace and eight digs, while Kendyll Spratt added 14 assists. Kya Stahl provided a strong defensive effort with 18 digs.
(August 28th) DACC vs Lorain County Community College
DACC's second match Friday came against Lorain County Community College, where the Jaguars fell 3-0. Lorain won by scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-18.
Kaylee Barker led the Jaguars with seven kills, while Maddison Appl added six kills, five digs, one ace and two block assists. Parkerson recorded six assists and eight digs, Spratt added five assists, and Stahl finished with 13 digs.
(August 29th) DACC vs Owens Community College
The Jaguars returned to action Saturday against Owens Community College, falling 3-1 in another competitive match. After dropping the opening set 25-10, DACC responded with a 25-20 victory in the second set. Owens regained control by winning the third set 25-18 before taking the fourth set 27-25.
Barker led DACC with eight kills, two aces and 10 digs, while Graddy added seven kills and seven digs. Spratt recorded 11 assists, and Parkerson contributed seven assists and six digs. Rudy provided a presence at the net with two solo blocks and three block assists. Stahl added 18 digs.
(August 29th) DACC vs Cuyahoga Community College
The Jaguars closed out the tournament on a high note, sweeping Cuyahoga Community College 3-0 by scores of 25-23, 25-14 and 25-23.
Appl led DACC with six kills, three aces and a solo block, while Rudy recorded five kills, one solo block and four block assists. Barker added five kills, and Nadya Paredes finished with 13 assists to help guide the Jaguar offense.
Stahl once again anchored the DACC defense, recording 14 digs.
