Jaguar Softball Splits Weekend of Doubleheaders

Falls in two to Parkland; Sweeps Lewis & Clark

CHAMPAIGN & GODFREY, IL - Danville softball continues their 2026 schedule and has entered conference play, currently sitting with a 23-7 overall record and a 2-2 conference record. They played in two doubleheaders over the weekend, the first one being against the Cobras of Parkland in Champaign, and the second was against Lewis & Clark in Godfrey.

(March 21st) Game 1 vs Parkland
Danville played their first conference doubleheader against the Cobras (15-14) on Saturday, and came up short. It was scoreless through 2 and a half innings, but the Cobras got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the second. They then added on two more runs in the bottom of the third before the Jaguars scored two in the top of the fourth and then tied it at 3 a piece in the top of the fifth. Parkland bounced back though and scored three in the bottom of the fifth to take the 6-3 lead, and then held off Danville in the sixth and seventh to take the win.

Tristan Ring went 1-3 at the plate with two RBIs, while Paige Froess threw six innings and earned five strikeouts.

(March 21st) Game 2 vs Parkland
A seven run third inning for Parkland put Danville in a tough position the rest of the game, and despite a run in the fourth, three in the fifth, and one in the sixth, the Jaguars weren't able to bounce back. The Cobras were able to add on another run in the bottom of the fifth, and closed it out in the top of the seventh with an 8-5 victory.

Mekaya Cihla went 3-4 at the plate with a 3-run homerun, while Allyson Truelove, Marin Gonski, and Alex Brown also went 2-4 at the plate.

(March 22nd) Game 1 vs Lewis & Clark
The Jaguars bounced back in their doubleheader on Sunday against Lewis & Clark (1-22) as Paige Froess threw a shutout to help lead the team to a 21-0 victory. With the five innings scored in the second, one in the third, four in the fourth, and eleven in the fifth, Danville was able to cut the game short in five innings.

Three Jaguars, Mackenzie Knowles, Mekaya Cihla, and Ella Myers, each had a homerun. Froess recorded three strikeouts.

(March 22nd) Game 2 vs Lewis & Clark
Danville got on the board first in game two, with a run in both the first and third inning. They brought across seven more in the fourth, and only allowed the Trailblazers to score two runs in the fifth before the Jaguars added on one more in the top of the seventh. They held off Lewis & Clark in the bottom half to get the 10-2 win.

Jocelyn Peal got the win on the mound with five strikeouts. Alex Brown was 3-4 at the plate with 2 RBIs, while Ava Olson added a homerun.
