Danville Finishes 3rd at Nationals

Beats #5 Iowa Central 75-63 in final game

DANVILLE, IL - The Jaguars bounced back in the third place contest Saturday evening after falling short of a national championship game Friday night in the semifinal.

Danville (28-5) entered the game as the lower seed, but showed out as they were consistent on both ends against #5 Iowa Central (28-8). The Jaguars got out to a quick 13-2 lead with three made 3-pointers and a combination of other powerful offensive moves in the first half. Danville maintained their lead throughout the first half and held off the Tritons to stay on top. They held the Tritons to just 38.2% from the floor and 33.3% from the arc in the first half. They also forced four turnovers, and were 53.8% from the arc.

Not much changed in the second half, despite the Tritons climbing within two early on, but Danville responded well and held their own. Their lead grew to eleven with 7:04 to go after a made layup from Antoine Franklin Jr. It then went up to sixteen at the six minute mark after another made layup from DeShawn Clark. The Jaguars carried on through the remaining half, and came out on top with a 75-63 victory to take home the third place trophy.

Blake Reed led the Jaguars with 12 points, while Antoine Franklin Jr. had 11, and DeShawn Clark and Keyton Barnes each had 10.

That game ends Danville's 2025-26 season, and it ends at the place every team hopes to end it; right in Danville.
