Mens Basketball Slides Past Mid-Michigan in Second Round

DANVILLE, IL - The Jaguars stay in the winner's bracket of the 2026 NJCAA National Tournament as they survived against the Lakers of Mid-Michigan Tuesday night.

Danville (26-4) earned the right to play on their home floor as they enter the tournament as the 7th seed, and they hosted 10th seed Mid-Michigan College (25-7) in the second round. The Jaguars were off to a hot start as they got out to a quick 11-0 lead within the first four minutes before the Lakers were able to get a basket. The closest the Jaguars allowed the Lakers to get within the first half was four points. They held Mid-Michigan to just 31.4% in field-goals in the first twenty minutes, while the home team shot 44.4%. Jeremy Wilson grabbed a big 14 points within the first half to propel Danville 41-29 at the half.

Similar to the first half, the Jaguars came out hot, scoring three consecutive buckets including a made 3-pointer from DeShawn Clark. The Lakers didn't score till the sixteen minute mark. Danville kept the tempo and pushed offensively, continuing to add pressure. The Jaguars forced five turnovers in the second half, and improved to 40% from the 3-point line and 54.8% in field-goals. The momentum carried through till the final minute, and it was the home team of Danville who came out on top with an 85-68 victory.

Jeremy Wilson posted a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Blake Reed was 4-7 from behind the arc, scoring 17 points. DeShawn Clark added 14, and Jordan Dickson added 13.

Danville will advance to the NJCAA Quarterfinal on Wednesday, March 18th at 8pm. They will await the winner of the other second round game between Palm Beach State College and SUNY Orange County Community College.
