Jaguar Softball Gets 20th Win on the Season

SOUTH HOLLAND, IL - The Lady Jaguars earned their 20th win on the season Tuesday afternoon, sweeping the Bulldogs of South Suburban in their doubleheader.

Danville 16, South Suburban 8
South Suburban (7-12) had a 4-0 lead on Danville through three innings, scoring two in the bottom of the first and two in the bottom of the third. Danville (20-9) grabbed a run in the top of the fourth, making it 4-1 before the Bulldogs added on another three runs in the bottom of the fourth to stretch the lead to 7-1. The Jaguars took control the rest of the game though, and had a huge nine run fifth inning to put them ahead 10-7. They scored two more in the sixth, and four more in the top of the seventh, and held South Suburban to just one run in the bottom of the seventh to secure the 16-8 victory.

Alex Brown was 2-5 at the plate with two RBIs and a homerun. Gloria Richardson went 3-3 at the plate with one RBI. Brown also pitched four innings and sat down three batters, while Jocelyn Peal pitched three innings and sat down four batters.

Danville 9, South Suburban 0
It was all Danville in game two as the Jaguars got out to a quick start, scoring two runs in the first. It was scoreless through the next three innings before Danville added on another four runs in the fifth, making it 6-0. They grabbed three more runs in the sixth, and held the Bulldogs in the bottom half, getting the 9-0 victory.

Gloria Richardson was 3-3 at the plate again this game, while Chloe Hunt was 2-3 with three RBIs. Kenzie Fasig only allowed one hit, pitching all six innings and striking out seven batters.

Danville will play again on Wednesday, April 9th at home when they host #23 Parkland College in a doubleheader starting at 3 pm.
