Jaguar Softball Splits with Parkland to Close Out Regular Season

CHAMPAIGN, IL - Danville softball finished their regular season in a top-25 matchup on Sunday, facing 24th ranked Parkland College in Champaign and splitting the doubleheader.

The Jaguars (32-11) got on the board in the top of the first, scoring two runs before the Cobras (34-14) answered and tied the game up at two in the bottom of the first. The game remained scoreless till the fourth when Danville earned the 3-2 lead. The Jaguars extended the lead to 5-2 after the top of the sixth, then 7-2 after the top of the seventh, and Parkland's last push in the bottom of the seventh only came out with two runs, Danville earning the 7-4 victory in game one.

Marin Gonski was 2-4 at the plate with two RBIs, while Gloria Richardson was 1-3 at the plate, also with two RBIs.

In game two, Parkland held the Jaguars scoreless through six innings, and scored one run in the first, and three in the third to have a 4-0 lead heading into the seventh. Danville went on to score one run in the top half, but was held to just that as the Cobras got the 4-1 victory in game two.

Marin Gonski was 3-4 at the plate with one RBI, while Kenzie Fasig and Dakota Harrison each had one strikeout.
