Lady Jaguars End Season in Region 24 Tournament

Falls to Parkland on the road, 74-50

CHAMPAIGN, IL - DACC women's basketball couldn't battle back after the Cobras scored twenty-one points in third quarter Tuesday night, ending their season in the opening round of the 2025 Region 24 Tournament.

Danville (19-12) entered the game as the #5 seed in the tournament, while Parkland (20-11) entered as the #4 seed, giving them hosting rights in the first round. The game was back and forth to start the first quarter. The Cobras were only able to pull ahead by four heading into the second. They went up as much by eight at the 7:15 minute mark before Keiara Gregory hit a three to bring the Jaguars back within five. A pair of made free throws from Gregory tied it up at 26, and despite some more points on the board from Parkland, Danville kept the lead within three at the half.

Jillisa Briggs tied it up at 39 with a quick jumper late in the third quarter before Parkland got the lead back and was able to run with it. A couple turnovers from Danville and some missed shots led to them going down by eleven to start the fourth. The Cobras held the Jaguars scoreless till just under seven minutes when Tangee Gagau knocked down a couple of free throws. It was all Parkland down the stretch, as they closed out the game with a 74-50 victory over Danville.

Tangee Gagau was the leading scorer for Danville with eighteen points, while Keiara Gregory scored thirteen.

With that loss, the 2024-25 season is complete for the Lady Jaguars. They finished the year with a 19-12 overall record, and a 6-8 conference record.
