Women's Basketball Falls to Vincennes University in Nailbiter

DANVILLE, IL - It came down to the wire in Tuesday night's matchup against Vincennes University for the Danville Jaguars.

Danville (2-5) were only down by a point at the end of the first quarter against the Trailblazers (4-1). Vincennes went up 21-16 early in the second after a made 3-pointer, but the Jaguars cut the lead to two after a made jumper from Alexa Jamison. Vincennes then went up 33-28 at halftime after a last second three was made by the Trailblazers.

Danville outscored Vincennes 25-20 in the third quarter and ended it tied at 53 a piece. It was back and forth throughout the fourth period, and was tied at 71 with 48 seconds remaining after Madison Jobe knocked down a long 3-pointer. Vincennes was able to get an easy basket in the lane with just under 30 seconds to go to get the 73-71 lead. Danville fouled the Trailblazers on the other end after a missed shot on offense, sending them to the line where they missed two free throws. The Jaguars brought the ball up with 11 seconds left, and Ma'Kaela Drake missed a short jumper in the lane, and it was rebounded and put back up twice by Chioma Igwe, but missed both shots to fall just short 73-71 to the Trailblazers.

Madison Jobe led the team with 27 points, while Alexa Jamison had 18 points, and Chioma Igwe scored 13.

The Jaguars will play again on Friday, November 21st when they travel to Olney, Illinois to face Olney Central College at 3 pm.
