Tough Loss for Lady Jaguars Against Illinois Central

DANVILLE, IL - A series of missed shots and unforced errors made by the Jaguars made them fall short to the 14th ranked Illinois Central Cougars on Monday.

Danville (14-6) was off to a good start against the Cougars of ICC (14-4) in the first half, but Illinois Central continued to push the ball down the floor and knock down shots, giving them the advantage down the stretch. The Cougars were only up by a couple points at the end of the first quarter, and were only up by 6 points at halftime. The Jaguars were shooting 36.4% in the first period, and 35.3% in the second. Nothing seemed to fall though in the second half as they shot 25% in the third, and 18.8% in the fourth. The Cougars outrebounded Danville in the game, 54-30, and also had 18 second chance points scored in comparison to Danville's 9. The Jaguars were unable to bounce back from being down 9 late in the third, and eventually fell to be down by 20 points with just under a minute to go in the fourth. Danville lost with the final score being 76-57.

Keiara Gregory was the leading scorer for Danville with 22 points, while Tangee Gagau and Victoria Gonzalez both had 15.

Danville will be off for the next few days and will return for another home game on Saturday, January 25th, when they host Kaskaskia at 1 pm in the Mary Miller Gymnasium.
