Despite having strong performances, Both Men's and Women's Basketball Drop contest to John Wood

DANVILLE, ILLINOIS – The Men's and Women's Basketball team hosted John Wood in a double header fashion on Sunday. The Blazers ended up winning both contests today as the Women's team fell 53-52, while the Men's team lost 79-74.

Women's Highlights

In the women's game, the Lady Jaguars were down at half, but ultimately made it extremely close in the final minutes outscoring the Lady Blazers in the final two quarters respectively. Leading the charge for the Jaguars was Alexus Mobley who scored 16 points and was one rebound shy of another double-double performance on the year.

Riley Dowers also shined in the game, tallying 12 points while also snagging 7 rebounds. Asaya Bulgin had a solid performance securing 12 rebounds. The Jaguars drop to 4-9 on the year and will shift their focus to conference rival Parkland as they host the Cobras on Thursday March 11^th.

Men's Highlights

Blazers came into the contest ranked #17 by the NJCAA, while also riding a three-game win streak. There were multiple Jaguars who aided in the game, Sophomore standout Daylen Williams lead the Jaguar offense with 18 points. Freshman Drew Reifsteck added 17 points to compliment Williams performance. Other Jaguars helping the offense were Tyshay Epps who chipped in with 12 points and Kameron Barnett who added 11.

The Jaguars will host Parkland on Thursday March 11^th in a MWAC Rival Showdown. The Cobras are currently receiving votes in the NJCAA National Rankings and the Jaguars will look to gain momentum off the Cobras heading into the final stretch of the 2021 season and into the Region 24 tournament.
