Jaguars Win Season Opener Against Lake Land

Parker Tallies 31 Points in First Game Back

DANVILLE, ILLINOIS - The Jaguars prevailed in the season opener against Lake Land college Saturday night.  They went on to beat Lake Land College by a final score of 78-67 in a thriller. The jaguars took the lead in the first half 37-24 and never looked back.  Coach Gouard stated "our team will have glimpses of what we can be and what we need to work on" in a previous interview; however, the Jaguars looked extremely impressive in their season debut.

In his first game back, Malik Parker added 31 points with 3 assists, in which he set the tone for the Jaguar offense.  Parker suffered a season ending injury in his first campaign with the Jaguars last season and was a big component in their offense in the short time he spent on the court.  Fast forwarding to tonights game, it is significantly noticeable how important his offense and leadership is needed.

Sophomore transfer Armon Brummett shined in his first game as a Jaguar adding 21 points, 4 assists, and 2 steals.  Madison Lowery added 15 before fouling out of the contest, but also was a viable threat in the Jaguars game.

The Jaguars are back on the court in another home contest on Wednesday, November 6th when they take on powerhouse Wabash Valley and former DACC Basketball Coach Mike Carpenter.
