Kyle Bent made his return to Danville Area Community College as the head women's basketball coach in June, 2023. Kyle returns to where he began his college coaching career in 2010.
Bent previously coached the Jaguars from 2010-2014. During those four seasons, the Jaguars accumulated a 66-57 record and won the Mid-West Athletic Conference regular season championship in 2014. He also coached one conference player of the year, two freshman of the year players, nine all-conference selections, and three All-American nominees in this stretch of four seasons.
In the summer of 2014, Bent left DACC and accepted the head coaching position at Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tennessee. Over his four seasons in Tennessee, Bent led the RedHawks to over 90 wins, four straight NAIA National Tournament appearances, and the program's first ever conference championship. He also produced eleven all-conference players along with five NAIA All-Americans.
After the 2017-2018 season at Martin Methodist, Bent accepted the head coaching position at Rogers State University, a NCAA Division II program in Claremore, Oklahoma. During his five seasons at the helm, Bent coached five all-conference players along with several players earning Academic All-American honors.
Upon the completion of the 2022-2023 season, then DACC head coach Erika Harris accepted another position. Bent departed Rogers State and now enters his first season back at DACC with six returners who placed eighth at the 2023 NJCAA National Tournament.
Coach Bent grew up in Camp Point, Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he earned a Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism. While in graduate school, Bent coached the women's basketball club team and helped guide them to their first ever ACIS National Championship in 2010.
Bent enters his fifteenth season as a college head coach with an overall record of 201-189. He enters his fifth season as the Jaguars head coach with an overall record of 66-57. He was named the 2012 Region 24 NJCAA Coach of the Year, the 2012 Mid-West Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, the 2018 Southern State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year (NAIA), and the 2018 Women's Basketball Coaches Associaton Region Coach of the Year (NAIA).
