DANVILLE, IL - The Danville Area Community College Jaguars volleyball team turned in a strong performance at its home tri-match, earning a pair of 3-0 victories over Carl Sandburg Community College and Elgin Community College.
DACC vs Carl Sandburg
The Jaguars opened the tri-match with a dominant 3-0 sweep of the Carl Sandburg Chargers, winning 25-10, 25-23 and 25-18. DACC controlled the opening set from the start, cruising to a 25-10 victory. The Chargers pushed the Jaguars in the second set, but DACC held on for a 25-23 win before closing out the match with a 25-18 victory in the third.
Maddison Appl led the Jaguars with seven kills while also recording four aces and three block assists. Kaylee Barker added six kills, while Milee Ellis and Brenna Graddy each contributed five kills. Nadya Paredes and Tinley Parkerson helped direct the Jaguar offense with 13 assists apiece. Paredes also added three aces.
Defensively, Makenna Ackerman recorded seven digs, while Kya Stahl contributed 12 digs and an ace. Aleeya Rudy added four block assists as DACC maintained control at the net.
DACC vs Elgin
The Jaguars carried their momentum into the second match of the day, sweeping the Elgin Spartans 3-0 by scores of 25-21, 25-23 and 25-16. Elgin challenged DACC throughout the first two sets, but the Jaguars came through in the closing points of each set before pulling away in the third to complete the sweep.
Rudy and Appl led the Jaguar attack with seven kills each. Rudy also recorded one solo block and one block assist, while Appl added one solo block and two block assists. Graddy contributed seven kills, giving DACC three players with seven kills in the match. Paredes once again finished with 13 assists and added two aces, while Parkerson recorded 11 assists and one ace. Maya Smith turned in a strong all-around performance, recording three aces and 13 digs. Stahl anchored the defensive effort with a team-high 22 digs.
