Men's Basketball Falls to Cobras in Region Championship

DANVILLE, IL - The top ranked Jaguars fell to the Cobras Saturday afternoon in the Region 24/Central District Championship game that advances Parkland to the NJCAA National Tournament.

Danville (25-4) had a solid lead to start the first half against Parkland (25-7) as the Jaguars went up 16-4 with under fifteen minutes to go. The Cobras climbed back slowly to go on top 25-22, before Danville responded with a pair of made free throws. The rest of the half continued to go back and forth between the two teams with Parkland shooting 50% and Danville shooting 43.8% in field-goals, and it was the Cobras who had the lead at halftime at 35-32.

Parkland came out strong to start the second half, knocking down a 3-pointer out of the gate to go up by six. The Jaguars were able to cut the lead to two after going down by seven after a made jumper from Jordan Dickson, but Parkland continued to attack the boards the remainder of the half. Under the eight minute mark, the Cobras stretched the lead to eleven, and then to seventeen, and never looked back. They held Danville off offensively and closed out the game with a 81-67 victory.

Jordan Dickson led the Jaguars with 18 points, while DeShawn Clark scored 17, and Elijah Stark added 14.
