Volleyball Starts Season 3-1 at Rockford Tournament

ROCKFORD, IL - Danville Area Community College volleyball is back in action for the 2025 season as the team hit the road for the annual tournament held in Rockford, getting three wins and just one loss to start the year.

Danville 3, Illinois Valley 0
Game one of the tournament and season was against Illinois Valley Community College. The Jaguars combined for a total of 23 kills and held the Eagles to a .100 hitting percentage. Danville swept IVCC in three sets, winning the first one 25-15, the second 25-20, and the third 25-16. Freshman Aleeya Rudy had 8 kills and 7 digs, while Peyton Williams had 5 kills and 8 digs. 

Danville 3, Southwestern 0
The Jaguars entered game two of day one one with some momentum after winning their first game. Against Southwestern, Danville had 32 total kills, earning a .286 hitting percentage, in addition to having 10 service aces. The Jaguars had another sweep this game, winning set one 25-19, set two 27-25, and set three 25-12. Halle Brazelton's 16 assists, along with Brenna Graddy's 9 kills helped Danville to their 2-0 record. Nadya Paredes had 9 assists with 12 digs, while Peyton Williams had 6 kills with 13 digs.

Danville 0, Johnson County 3
On day two, the Jaguars faced the second ranked team in division two, Johnson County. The team had a hard time getting their offense going, hitting only .025 on the game. They fell short in three straight sets, losing the first 8-25, the second 12-25, and the third 14-25. Brenna Graddy and Maddison Appl each had 4 kills, while Kayln Cordes had 7 digs.

Danville 3, Kishwaukee 0
The final game of the tournament was against Kishwaukee College, where the Jaguars got their third sweep. They won set one 25-13, set two 25-15, and set three 25-12. Danville held Kishwaukee to a -.045 hitting percentage, and in turn hit .348 as a team. Behind the combined 18 kills from Nikita Taylor, Maddison Appl, and Peyton Williams, the Jaguars were able to close out the tournament with a 3-1 record.

The team will play their first home game of the season on Wednesday, August 27th as they host conference foe, Spoon River College in the Mary Miller Gymnasium with game time starting at 6 pm.
