Baseball Goes 3-1 on the Weekend Against ICC

DANVILLE, IL - The Jaguars were successful this past weekend as they won the series against conference opponent Illinois Central.

Danville 2, Illinois Central 0
Danville (10-24) traveled to Peoria on Saturday to face the Cougars (11-29) in the first doubleheader of the weekend. Eric Fields got the start on the mound and was a huge factor in the Jaguar's first win, as he pitched through eight innings and struckout ten batters. Braxton Waller and Brody Julian combined for two RBIs that led Danville to their 2-0 victory in game one.

Illinois Central 9, Danville 4
The Jaguars got on the board first in game two by scoring two runs in the top of the first before the Cougars took the lead by scoring three runs in the bottom half. Illinois Central continued to add onto their lead, scoring two runs in the second and three in the third. Danville brought a run across in the fourth, and so did Illinois Central. Danville added another in the fifth, but couldn't complete the comeback as they fell short to the Cougars, losing game two 9-4

Ethan Durbin went 2-4 at the plate with two RBIs, while Alex Fernandez went 2-3 at the plate with one RBI.

Danville 14, Illinois Central 6
With a 9-0 lead heading into the top of the fourth, Danville only allowed one run to get on the board by the Cougars before adding another five runs in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead to 14-1. Illinois Central would go on to score four runs in the fifth, and one more in the sixth, but that was all they were allowed as the Jaguars won game one 14-6 on Sunday when they hosted the Cougars at the stadium.

Chris Lewis knocked in a homerun in that game, earning five of the team's eleven RBIs. Isaac Murray was 2-2 at the plate with three RBIs.

Danville 10, Illinois Central 6
The Jaguars were down 4-2 heading into the third when they brought it within one in game two. Illinois Central added another run in the fourth, then Danville responded with a four run fifth inning, taking the 7-5 lead. The Jaguars grabbed two more in the sixth and held the Cougars to just one run in the seventh, while Danville earned one more run in the eighth and held off ICC to get the 10-6 victory.

Braxton Waller went 2-5 at the plate with two RBIs.
