Men's Basketball Season Ends in Region Semifinals

CANTON, IL - It's the end of the road for the Danville men's basketball team as they fell short to Rend Lake College in the Region 24 Semifinals on Friday night.

The Jaguars (16-13) were up against Rend Lake (18-15) who they had seen twice before earlier in the season. Both teams earned their way into the semifinal round by Danville beating Spoon River, and Rend Lake beating Lewis & Clark in the quarterfinal round. The semifinal game between the Jaguars and the Warriors was back and forth in the first half, with lead changes happening left and right. It ended up being a tied ball game at 38 at halftime, but it was all Rend Lake in the second half as they were successful behind the arc and from mid-range, knocking down shots and holding Danville off offensively. The Warriors outscored Danville 54-38 in the second half, giving them the 92-76 victory.

Jackson Twombly led the Jaguars with 23 points, AP Mitchell scored 15, while Jeremiah Poniewaz and Lorenzo McMillion added 13 a piece.

That loss ends the 2024-25 season for Danville as they went 16-13 overall and 8-4 in the conference.
