Lady Jaguars Come Up Short to #7 Lake Land in Final Regular Season Game

DANVILLE, IL - Danville Area Community College women's basketball ends their regular season with a loss at home against seventh ranked Lake Land College on Saturday afternoon.

The Jaguars (19-11) couldn't overcome a late scoring deficit in the second half to get the upset over the Lakers (24-6). Danville went out onto an 8-0 run to start the game, but the Lakers took the lead and didn't give it back late in the first quarter. The Jaguars were only behind by four at the end of the first, despite going 7-20 in field goals and 0-7 from the three-point line. Lake Land would extend their lead at halftime to be 39-25, as the Jaguars didn't seem to be able to get anything to fall offensively.

The Lakers went up by seventeen with a little over three minutes remaining in the third, but Danville was able to cut the lead to ten heading into the fourth. Lake Land went up by eleven with just over four minutes remaining, but a quick three-pointer from Tangee Gagau brought the Jaguars within eight. Danville was able to get a couple stops on defense and force a turnover, which they converted off of and got another three from Gagau with three minutes left. The Lakers were able to grab a layup to make it 68-61, and a missed shot from the Jaguars on the other end forced them to send Lakers to the free throw line, where they knocked them down, pushing them to the 70-61 victory over Danville.

Tangee Gagau was the leading scorer of the game with twenty points, while Keiara Gregory scored eleven, and Julissa Danglade added nine.

The Jaguars now await official seedings and pairings for the Region 24 Tournament that will begin next week.
