Men's Basketball Loses Nail-biter to Illinois Central on the Road

PEORIA, IL - It was a tough loss on the road Wednesday night for Jaguar men's basketball as they fell just short to Illinois Central 76-74.

Danville (15-10) had the lead to start the first half against the Cougars (10-17) till the 12 and a half minute mark when ICC knocked down a 3-pointer to go up by one. The Jaguars wouldn't let them off so easy though, as they quickly responded with a Jordan Harris 3 a few possessions later. It got to be a back and forth battle between the two MWAC opponents throughout the rest of the half, when the Cougars had a 3-point lead at the end of the first twenty minutes. The second half was fairly similar, with lead changes being swapped between the two. The game saw a total of nine lead changes, one of them still being held by ICC when they went up by eight with just under nine minutes to go. The Jaguars bounced back though, and came within three with seventeen seconds remaining before ICC made a free throw making it 76-72, and a last second jump shot was made by Dredon Nunn to make it 76-74, but it wasn't enough as the Cougars held on to get the win.

Lorenzo McMillion led all scorers with 20 points, while Blake Reed scored 15, and Jeremiah Poniewaz and Antoine Franklin Jr. both added 10.

Danville will wait to play again till Monday, February 24th when they host Rend Lake College at 6 pm.
