Top 5 Victory Over Parkland for Men's Basketball

DANVILLE, IL - It was all gas no brakes for Danville men's basketball last night in a conference matchup against #5 Parkland.

The Jaguars (7-7) were quick to get on the board, gaining a 20-8 lead over the Cobras (14-2) halfway through the first half. Defensive stops and knocking down shots propelled Danville past Parkland, sticking with the lead at halftime, where the score read 44-36. The Cobras cut the lead to 3 after a couple made free throws and layups early in the second half, and ended up taking the lead after a made 3-pointer, making the score 50-48 with a little over 15 minutes remaining. Parkland kept the lead for a few minutes before Danville bounced back and took a 9 point lead after AP Mitchell secured a layup with 6 minutes left. The Jaguars continued to attack on both ends for the remaining time of the game, and finished with a 82-71 victory over the fifth ranked Cobras.

Jackson Twombly and Devan Larkin each scored 17 points in the win, while Jeremiah Poniewaz scored 11, and Lorenzo McMillion added 9 points.

Next up for Danville is a trip to Canton, Illinois to face the Snappers of Spoon River with tipoff starting at 3 pm.
