Men's Basketball Gets 3rd Conference Victory in Dominant Fashion

Beats Lewis & Clark by nearly 30

DANVILLE, IL - The Jaguars spread their scoring across the board last night in a home contest against the Trailblazers of Lewis & Clark to give them their third conference victory of the season.

Danville (9-7) hosted Lewis & Clark (4-13) for another MWAC matchup on the season. The Trailblazers maintained a close game over halfway in the first half, but a made 3-pointer from Danville's Blake Reed with just under seven minutes remaining propelled the Jaguars into a lead that they held throughout the rest of the game. They were able to close out the first half with a 33-19 lead after a made layup from Antoine Franklin Jr., and had a 48.3 field-goal percentage entering the third quarter.

The Jaguars never let off the gas as they took a 20-point lead just four minutes into the second half. Danville was able to capitalize off of the turnovers forced on Lewis & Clark, and additionally had 46 points scored in the paint in comparison to the Blazers 26. A made layup from Jordan Harris late in the second half gave Danville their largest lead of the game at 30 points, and Danville shortyly after closed it out with a 72-44 victory.

Jeremiah Poniewaz was the leading scorer of the game with 12 points, while Blade Reed had 11 points, and Antoine Franklin Jr. scored 10. Dredon Nunn had 8 points with 11 rebounds.

Next up for the Jaguars is an away game at Springfield, Illinois on Saturday, January 18th at 3 pm when they face off with the Loggers of Lincoln Land.
