Nailbiter for Jaguars Ends in Loss to #4 Parkland

DANVILLE, IL - Similar to the last time the two rivals met about a month ago, the Jaguars and the Cobras didn't disappoint in a tough conference matchup.

Danville (14-9) hosted #4 Parkland (23-2) last night in a noisy Mary Miller Gymnasium. Plenty of ties and lead changes happened, with both teams putting up a strong fight. It was a low scoring first half, with Danville having a 3 point (30-26) lead going into halftime. The Jaguars jumped out quick to a 6 point lead after a made layup from sophomore Terrence Ringo and a jumper from sophomore Jaydin Dunlap. Parkland tied the game back up at 40 with a little over 13 minutes remaining in the second half after a made layup, and then took a 4 point lead after a made free throw.

The score read 61-55 Parkland with a minute and a half remaining when Danville started sending the Cobras to the free throw line. Despite a couple made layups from Danville freshmen Jaylen Simmons and Jae'Sean Martin, Parkland closed out the game with a final score of 66-61. The record is now split between the two teams this season, with Danville beating them on the road in January, and Parkland beating Danville here at home.

The Jaguars will have another conference matchup on Saturday, February 17th at home when they take on the Trailblazers of Lewis & Clark at 3 pm following the women's game at 1 pm.
