2-0 Start for Women's Basketball

Victory over Kankakee in Wednesday's contest

DANVILLE, IL - Lady Jaguar basketball is going in the right direction to start the 2024-25 season as they got their second win last night in the Mary Miller Gymnasium.

The Jaguars (2-0) hosted the Cavaliers of Kankakee Community College (0-2) on Wednesday night, and they got the decisive victory as they topped the Cavaliers by almost 30 points, winning 87-60. Danville forced 24 turnovers on Kankakee, and they were able to convert and score 32 points off of them. The Jaguars only had a 1 point lead after the first quarter, but they were able to expand it going into halftime, 38-29. They scored 27 points in the third, and 22 in the fourth, stretching the lead to 20 points, helping them secure the win. 

The Jaguars shot 54.7% from field-goal range, in comparison to Kankakee's 36.5%. Danville was also shooting 44% from the 3-point line, and held Kankakee to a 33.3%. Additionally, they had 16 steals, 18 assists, and 37 total rebounds. Sophomore transfer Tangee Gagau had a double double last night, scoring 15 points and having 10 assists. Keiara Gregory was the leading scorer of the game with 28 points, while Victoria Gonzalez scored 20. Stephanie Stephen had 13 points, and 9 rebounds.

Up next for Danville is another home game before they begin to hit the road. They will host Shawnee Community College on Saturday, November 9th with the game time starting at 1 pm.
