Best Start for Women's Basketball in Over 5 Years

Team gets 5th win on the year last night

DANVILLE, IL - Jaguar women's basketball is off to a hot start this season as the team got their 5th victory last night, improving their overall record to 5-1.

Danville (5-1) hosted Lincoln Trail College (0-6) on Tuesday evening's contest where the Jaguars were quick and efficient on offense, leading them to a 14-point win, 84-70, over the Statesmen. The Jaguars had them beat in just about every category across the board, shooting 49.2% in field-goals, 31.6% in 3's, and 71.4% from the free-throw line. The team acquired 49 total rebounds, 34 of them being on the defensive end. Danville also had 19 assists and 12 steals, and they earned 20 points off of turnovers. They held the lead over Lincoln Trail the whole game, with the score reading 36-23 at halftime, and 60-46 at the end of the third. It was all gas no breaks for Danville, and are onto one of the best starts the program has seen in recent history.

Tangee Gagau led Danville with 14 points while also having 7 assists. Jaydah Arrowsmith added 13 points, while Ayanna Smith scored 12, and Stephanie Stephen scored 11.

Up next for the team is a trip to Carterville, Illinois on Friday, November 22nd to play John A. Logan College at 3 pm.
